Melinda
Reed, RN, BS
Reed started Beyond Addictions in September 2006, after brainstorming with Nurse Practitioners Alysa Hilton and Kerry Pioske on how to incorporate drug and alcohol detoxification into the home or hotel setting. The initial idea of providing detoxification services expanded into providing Outpatient Treatment and Recovery Services under the direction of nationally known Addictionologist Dr. Marvin D. Seppala. Reed brings the expertise of In-home Care and Corporate Culture of servant leadership to Beyond Addictions.
Reed was a Critical Care Nurse who became involved in telemedicine development, and telephone-linked care while working in a hospital setting. Reed started No Worries In-home Care in 1996 with the desire to create her ideal work environment and provide innovative home care. No Worries provides Complex CNA Care, Personal Care, and Non-Medical Care in the Portland, Oregon area. No Worries has grown rapidly and is currently celebrating over 10 years of providing quality care and a corporate culture consisting of unusual strategies which have resulted in more than 50% of the staff having been with No Worries for more than two years.
Reed became involved in state-wide In-home Care Licensure as a member of the Rules Committee for the Health Care Licensure and Certification Division of the Department of Human Services. Reed started an informal network of In-home Care Agencies around Oregon and then petitioned Oregon Health Care Association to allow membership to In-home Care Agencies. Reed became the In-home Care Committee Chair for Oregon Health Care Association and traveled around Oregon teaching other agencies how to comply with licensure and training trainers to teach the Medication Administration Training to caregivers. In addition to these volunteer activities; Reed has been a Community Health Clinical Nursing Instructor for Portland Community College for 7 years and for Washington State University’s RN to BSN to MSN program for 5 years. In March, Reed spoke at the National Private Duty Association’s National Conference on Leadership in Orlando, Florida. |
